Diane Hardcastle
Chairman
Diane’s love of flowers began many years ago inspired by her mother who had been to night classes. Attending classes with her sister Judith in the 1990s they then enrolled in 2006 for Floristry at Open College North West level 3 at Kirklees College and passed. Since then she has helped others enjoy the beauty of flowers by teaching at her local Community Centre, in her work as a florist for a well-known supermarket and of course through membership of Huddersfield Flower Club since 2016.
Teresa Kelly
Treasurer
Teresa took on the role of club Treasurer in September 2021 having had a career in banking. Her interest in flowers came from her mum who grew and entered local shows with her prize winning chrysanthemums. Teresa would classify herself as a keen amateur, having completed a Northern Council for Further Education Level 2 Floristry Course. She loves the opportunity the club membership brings to enhance and develop her skills providing opportunities to explore wider flower networks and forge new friendships.
Joyce Hearnshaw
President
Joyce’s interest in flowers began when she was made flower monitor at junior school at the age of ten. She first gained her stripes on the Committee as Programme and Show Secretary and then Chairman. Having access to the NAFAS educational programme she studied for the Advanced Certificate in Floral Art and Design and in 2017 qualified as a North East Area Judge.
Joyce is a great believer in gaining and sharing knowledge with others and she actively encourages and motivates members to experience the fun and rewards of competitive work.
Jackie Haigh
Programme Secretary
Jackie brings her design skills as a former hairdresser into the creative work of floral art. She is a keen crafter and a past Club Chairman and President. Still treasuring the miniature vase her mother used in a competition Jackie attended floral evening classes. A trip to a NAFAS flower festival sealed her fate and she has been a member of the flower club ever since.
Anne Ridsdale
Secretary
Anne’s organisational skills are paramount to her role at the club. As an active team leader in the scouting community for many years and a keen plants woman she brings her enthusiasm and horticultural knowledge into the world of flower arranging. A chance meeting at a cake decorating class lead to a firm friendship and an intro all things floral she joined a local community class and then the club.
Hilary Gee
Judith Norris
Judith’s love of flowers and flower arranging came from attending a flower arranging class with her mother and sister at St Pauls Church, Moldgreen. This was followed by a flower arranging course at Almondbury High School. She then completed her Open College North West Level 3 Floristry Course with Kirklees Adult education. Judith has displayed at shows including Harrogate, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and also enjoys a range of other Art and Crafts. She has found the time spent attending Huddersfield Flower Club and meeting like minded people very enjoyable.
